When we went to the Fish Cages where mom’s sister (Aunt Mary) and her husband “lives” (they’re working as caretakers) last July, they served us seafoods for lunch, and one of those is my mom’s favorite - the crabs. The minute Aunt Mary put the plate of steamed crabs in the table, mom’s face lit up and wanted to get the crabs immediately, good thing I was able to prevent her because I still have to take a picture of it. =)
I am not a big fan of the crabs - I think they’re a fuss to eat, so I let mom and my other relatives eat my share. The crabs here aren’t that big, but it’s meaty, and full of that orange fat that I detest the most. Mom and I actually had another round of arguments regarding the crab fat, I was just thankful that there weren’t that much crabs that time.
As for me, I feasted by eating the milkfish (kinilaw and dinaing) with the pickled bamboo shoots. I love how Aunt Mary cook does pickled bamboo shoots. It has a hint of sweetness, but still a pleasure to eat.
